What these tests measure

Each test targets one part of how your brain handles information. The reaction time test measures how quickly you respond to something you see. The memory tests look at different kinds of short-term memory: following a pattern step by step in sequence memory, holding digits in number memory, recognising words in verbal memory, and capturing positions at a glance in the chimp test and visual memory.

How your percentile works

After each test you see roughly what share of people you beat. These percentiles are estimated from typical scores for each kind of task, so treat them as a guide rather than an exact rank. Your device can change your reaction time by tens of milliseconds, so compare scores taken on the same device.

Track your progress

Every finished test is saved in your browser, so you can see your best scores and how they change on the My stats page. Nothing is sent to a server, and there is no account to make.
